Shawn Porter Announces Retirement After TKO Loss to Terence Crawford

Las Vegas, Nevada - November 20, 2021

Shawn Porter, the former two-time welterweight world champion, has announced his retirement from boxing following a 10th-round TKO loss to Terence Crawford on Saturday night.

Porter, 33, was making his first appearance in the ring since losing his WBC welterweight title to Errol Spence Jr. in September 2019. He was hoping to rebound with a victory over Crawford, but the undefeated pound-for-pound champion proved to be too much for him.

Porter was knocked down twice in the fight, once in the fifth round and again in the 10th round. After the second knockdown, Porter's father and trainer, Kenny Porter, threw in the towel, stopping the fight.

In a post-fight interview, Porter said that he was proud of his career and that he was at peace with his decision to retire.

"I gave it my all," Porter said. "I left it all in the ring. I'm happy with my career. I'm happy with the man I've become. I'm happy with the legacy I'm leaving behind."

Porter finished his career with a record of 31-4-1, with 17 knockouts. He won the IBF welterweight title in 2013 and the WBC welterweight title in 2018.

Porter is one of the most respected fighters in boxing. He is known for his toughness, determination, and sportsmanship.

Porter's retirement is a big loss for the sport of boxing. He was one of the most exciting and popular fighters in the world.
