Drone Wine Delivery To Cruise Ship

Uncorked Prank: Couple Admits Wine Delivery to Quarantined Cruise Ship Was a Hoax

Cruise Ship Drone Delivery Raises Eyebrows, Turns Out to Be a Prank

Australian Couple Comes Clean About Viral Video

A viral video purporting to show wine being delivered by drone to a quarantined cruise ship has been revealed to be a hoax, with the couple behind it admitting to the prank. The Australian couple, Dave Binskin and Sarah Rhodes, were passengers on the Diamond Princess, which was quarantined off the coast of Japan due to a coronavirus outbreak.

The video, which was widely shared on social media, showed a drone dropping off a package onto the balcony of their cabin. Binskin claimed at the time that he had ordered the wine from Naked Wine Club, a subscription-based wine delivery service. However, Naked Wine Club later denied any involvement.

In a statement released on Monday, Binskin and Rhodes admitted that they had used a remote-controlled helicopter to deliver the wine. They said they had intended it to be a joke, but acknowledged that it had caused concern and confusion. The couple has since apologized for any distress they may have caused.

The prank has raised questions about the potential for drones to be used for illegal or dangerous purposes. Authorities are investigating the incident.
