WEB Shootout successes seal Blue Stars glory for Whitecaps and FC Zurich
Blue Stars / FIFA Youth Cup 2023 teams confirmed

Vancouver Whitecaps women became the first side to book their place in the semi-finals of the Blue Stars/FIFA Youth Cup after overcoming a valiant effort from local U-21 representatives Grasshopper Club Zürich.
Swedish side FC Rosengård also booked their spot in the last four with a 2-0 win over FC Basel Frauen, setting up a semi-final encounter with the Canadian outfit.
Meanwhile, FC Zurich’s men’s team edged out BSC Young Boys to reach the semi-finals of the Blue Stars/FIFA Youth Cup, securing a last-four clash with reigning champions Club Internacional. Four-time winners Grasshopper Club Zürich, also from Switzerland, are in the other semi-final after they beat Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente.
The competition at the Stadion Brühl in Grenchen in western Switzerland continues on Saturday when the women’s semi-finals will be played and the men’s final four kicks off.
The Blue Stars/FIFA Youth Cup is a proven breeding ground for talent, with a host of future stars having shone on the big stage in Grenchen over the years, including FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year 2011 Homare Sawa, FIFA Men’s World Player of the Year 2006 Fabio Cannavaro, and current Juventus and Italy star Federico Chiesa.
