Sabalenka Defeats Zheng Qinwen in Straight Sets
Australian Open champion once again
Aryna Sabalenka is the Australian Open champion once again after producing one of the best performances of her career to defeat Zheng Qinwen in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
The Belarusian was in dominant form from the start, breaking Zheng's serve twice in the first set and racing to a 4-0 lead in the second. Zheng fought back to 4-3, but Sabalenka held her nerve to close out the match and claim her second Australian Open title.
Sabalenka, who is now ranked No. 1 in the world, was thrilled with her victory. "It's an incredible feeling to win the Australian Open again," she said. "I've worked so hard for this, and it's finally paid off."
Zheng, who was playing in her first Grand Slam final, was gracious in defeat. "Aryna played incredibly well today," she said. "She's a great champion, and I wish her all the best in the future."
Sabalenka's victory is a major boost for her confidence as she looks ahead to the rest of the season. She is now the favorite to win the French Open and Wimbledon, and she will be determined to complete the calendar-year Grand Slam.
